Coupled analysis FSI

Our profound understanding of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and structural analysis (FEM, FEA) has made it possible to conduct coupled analyses of fluid and structure interaction (FSI, Fluid–structure interaction) efficiently. In a fully-coupled FSI Analysis the two-way interaction between a solid structure and its surrounding fluids are taken into account in a single simulation model. In some industrial applications, this is the only way of obtaining realistic and useful results. One example of the several FSI studies carried out at Process Flow is an explosion simulation: The time propagation of a pressure front, and its effect – including damage – on the surrounding solid structure, is simulated.
